<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/utility/FeedStylesheets/rss.xsl" media="screen"?><rss version="2.0" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:slash="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/slash/" xmlns:wfw="http://wellformedweb.org/CommentAPI/"><channel><title>Sjogren&amp;#39;s Mom : Vitamins</title><link>http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/archive/tags/Vitamins/default.aspx</link><description>Tags: Vitamins</description><dc:language>en</dc:language><generator>CommunityServer 2007 SP1 (Build: 20510.895)</generator><item><title>Vitamin B12</title><link>http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/archive/2009/02/17/vitamin-b12.aspx</link><pubDate>Tue, 17 Feb 2009 11:29:58 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">c6974423-eee6-405f-ad43-26e2febcfffe:124</guid><dc:creator>amop</dc:creator><slash:comments>0</slash:comments><wfw:commentRss xmlns:wfw="http://wellformedweb.org/CommentAPI/">http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/rsscomments.aspx?PostID=124</wfw:commentRss><comments>http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/archive/2009/02/17/vitamin-b12.aspx#comments</comments><description>&lt;p&gt;Okay, so Iâ€™ve been reading some message boards and other thoughts about how a vitamin B12 deficiency could cause problems with â€œhealingâ€ and I have to wonder if this is the reason the cuts on my hand and at the corners of my mouth donâ€™t healâ€¦for a LONG time.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Right now I just have a few splits on my fingers, and after a few NuSkin applications Iâ€™m managing quite well.&amp;#160; The gash on my thumb actually healed quite nicely.&amp;#160; Split a few times before finally sealing.&amp;#160; I have been sleeping with my gloves and thick cream, but it becomes a bit unproductive when Iâ€™m up in the middle of the night several times to change and nurse my son.&amp;#160; Donâ€™t want to change the diapers with the sleeping gloves on, so thankfully my husband assists with that.&amp;#160; I also canâ€™t feel anything too well through the gloves, so trying to nurse and navigate things like the tv remote are difficultâ€¦so I just end up taking them off after a few hours on.&amp;#160; Guess itâ€™s not the worst thing in the world, but Iâ€™m still hoping for more than one night a week sleeping until at least 6am.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Back to B12.&amp;#160; Iâ€™m still taking prenatal vitamins, so Iâ€™m not sure how extra B12 is going to help.&amp;#160; I need to do some reading up on that.&amp;#160; I did ask the dermatologist I saw in December about things that would help my skin and although she gave me a prescription for cream that I havenâ€™t found to be terribly better than the Burts Bees products, she didnâ€™t mention taking any supplements.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Although I need to spend more time reading up on B12, I did learn the following thus far:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;- B12 is naturally occurring in most animal products (fish, meat, milk products, etc.)   &lt;br /&gt;- Man made B12 is something Iâ€™d need to look into more as itâ€™s classified as category C and Iâ€™m nursing    &lt;br /&gt;- The RDA is 1microgram    &lt;br /&gt;- Although itâ€™s water soluble, itâ€™s also destroyed by water (huh?)    &lt;br /&gt;- As it is water soluble, you canâ€™t overdose    &lt;br /&gt;- Sunshine also destroys it&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Now I need to go read up on my prenatal vitamin and see how much is in there.&amp;#160; I do eat more milk products right now as Iâ€™m nursing and donâ€™t want the calcium taken out of my bones.&amp;#160; I believe, based on my current diet, that I should be getting enough to meet the RDA.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;In the meantime, I keep a bottle of NuSkin by all of my medication.&amp;#160; Nightly dose of healing power.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/aggbug.aspx?PostID=124" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description><category domain="http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/archive/tags/Dry+Skin/default.aspx">Dry Skin</category><category domain="http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/archive/tags/Diet/default.aspx">Diet</category><category domain="http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/archive/tags/Nursing/default.aspx">Nursing</category><category domain="http://sjogrens.threepines.com/sjogrens/archive/tags/Vitamins/default.aspx">Vitamins</category></item></channel></rss>
