Bleeding on the Baby
So after nearly 3 weeks of quarantine, we left the house yesterday.  I dropped off the two kids at my Mother-in-law’s so I could go unaccompanied to visit my best friend and her nearly month old little girl.  I saw them in the hospital the day...

Vitamin B12
Okay, so I’ve been reading some message boards and other thoughts about how a vitamin B12 deficiency could cause problems with “healing” and I have to wonder if this is the reason the cuts on my hand and at the corners of my mouth don’t heal…for a LONG...

The Croup, Stitches, and a Baptism
It’s been one of those weeks, the kind of week every Mom knows is in their future, but can’t plan for no matter what. It started last weekend with a trip to my sister’s house (about an hour away) to celebrate my birthday and watch the Superbowl. ...

On The Eve…
…of turning 33…I had to actually do the math to figure out how old I’ll be tomorrow.  Not sure whether to blame that on lack of sleep, Mommy brain or Momnesia, or just getting old. My other list of complaints including: dry, cracked hands split cuticles...
Put Your Gloves On
While it is cold enough where I am to literally freeze your tongue to a pole (see A Christmas Story), it’s definitely cold enough for mittens and gloves.  Which I wear every time I leave the house…and also to bed. I did make it through my best friends...
Dish Pan Hands
I finally broke down.  Bought a few pairs of latex gloves for the dish pan.  I have never been a fan of gloves while washing dishes.  Never.  However, as I have splits on my fingers that haven’t healed and just keep re-splitting…and...

Cotton Gloves
I recovered from my cold just in time to host a wonderful Halloween play date (on Halloween) for my older son's play group. It was great fun...only my son was the only one who didn't want to be in the wonderful costume I made him. Got it on him for a...
House
Did anyone catch tonight's episode of House..."Lucky Thirteen?" If you're unfamiliar with the tv show House, it's about this nasty, totally un-PC physician at a NJ hospital named Gregory House. He has the knack for diagnosing all of those cases that no...
Knuckle Splitting
As if my elephant skin hands weren't bad enough, in the past two days I've developed little splits on my knuckles that are now bleeding. This is with multiple applications of super thick hand cream throughout the days. Think I'm going to have to go buy...

Dental Cleaning
I had my appointment for a cleaning (just a few weeks late given the birth of my second son) this past Monday. Feels great to have those squeaky clean teeth...until your next meal. Prior to getting pregnant the second time I had requested that they update...

I'm Not Going to Jinx Myself
Knock on wood...last night, for the first time our little one slept nearly 5 hours straight...in his own bed! Yes, that means I actually slept! He's been doing better the last two or three nights sleeping in his crib, and sleeping a few hours straight...
Pumice Stone to the Rescue
I learned tonight that a pumice stone not only exfoliates your feet, but also is great for removing the dry, cracked skin on the tips of my fingers. Now I hopefully won't stick to everything.

Post Pregnancy Labs
I received my post pregnancy lab work today in the mail. It's been a little while since I've had blood work sent to me, so I'm curious to see how my numbers compare. However, it brought back how I was diagnosed. As I was reviewing the blood work, the...
6 Weeks Post Delivery
I've made it to the final finish line in the birthing process - six weeks post delivery. For the first 2 weeks home, I had the no heavy lifting, no driving, and no more than once up and down the stairs a day rules. Add the no bath, swimming, or exercise...
Elephant Skin
I think my son and I have finally got on a good nursing/sleeping schedule now. He is going in for another weight check to see how much he's gained in the past week tomorrow, so here's hoping that he's not only up, but up over birth weight at this point...
